In January 2023, we surveyed people living with MS on a range of issues relating to everyday life. We discovered:
- 56% of our survey respondents reported that MS had affected their mental health moderately or severely
- 30% of people with MS and a mental health symptom had not discussed their concerns with anyone at all
- 38% of all survey respondents indicated that they would like to have more support with their mood or emotions
The MS Trust is working with other MS charities to open up the conversation about mental health in MS. We want to make sure that people with MS recognise that MS can impact their mental and emotional health and are empowered to speak up and seek appropriate support.
